On June 26, 2018 PacificSport Okanagan and the City of Kelowna celebrated a send off for "Team Okanagan" to the 2018 BC Summer Games in Cowichan, BC July 19-22, 2018.

Athletes representing the Okanagan Valley as part of “Team Okanagan” attended a send-off barbecue and “Guide to the Games” at beautiful Stuart Park, Kelowna, BC on Tuesday, June 25, 2018. The event featured an official welcome from a Westbank First Nation Elder, a Send Off address from Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran, and PacificSport Okanagan Executive Director, Shaunna Taylor.

The BC Games Society celebrates their 40th anniversary of the Games this year: an event that brings together youth athletes from across the province in what is often their first experience in a multisport games. An important part of athlete and coach development, the BC Summer Games has been the springboard for countless Olympic, Paralympic and national team members, which PacificSport Okanagan and the City of Kelowna look forward to celebrating each BC Games year with a free barbecue, music and fun skill-testing games.

The event closed with the athletes and coaches attending a “Guide to the Games” session at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, to help prepare Team Okanagan.
