Based in Penticton, the Summer Camp Leader will assist the Summer Program Coordinator with the delivery of the PacificSport (South Okanagan) Summer Day Camps. This includes the following responsibilities:
Sport Discovery Camps – Implement introductory Sport Discovery Camps (XploreSportZ) for children ages 9 – 12. The intent of these camps is to encourage healthy and active lifestyles by introducing kids to a wide variety of new, non-traditional, life-long sports. Camps may include sessions on archery, luge, ultimate frisbee, canoeing, cricket, fencing, curling, gymnastics, kayaking, sailing, beach volleyball, orienteering, etc.
Camp duties include assisting with the weekly scheduling; working with the staff and volunteer team on the hands-on delivery of the program; assisting with the coordination of all camp activities; ensuring the fun and safety of participants; serving as a program liaison; and assisting with administrative activities.
Camps to be offered over five weeks in July and August.
Sport Performance Camps – Implement a Sport Performance Camp (TNT – The Next Tier) for competitive athletes ages 13 – 17. The intent of this camp is to develop healthy training routines by exposing young athletes to a wide variety of multi-sport training methods (ie. strength, agility and speed training, core stabilizing, flexibility training, etc) and sport education principles (ie. nutrition, injury management, mental training, etc).
Camp duties include assisting with the weekly scheduling; working with staff and volunteer team on the hands-on delivery of the program; assisting with the coordination of all camp activities; ensuring the fun and safety of participants; serving as a program liaison; and assisting with administrative activities.
Camp to be offered over one week in July or August.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The contract term will extend for up to 9 weeks commencing June 26, 2017.
The rate of pay will be $13.50 per hour.
All work-related travel or expenses will be reimbursed.
Hours of employment will be up to 40 hours per week.
Extra hours may be required and the work week will be adjusted to accommodate these hours and minimize accumulated overtime.
Approved overtime will be taken as time-off.
The Summer Camp Leader will be supervised by the PacificSport Okanagan Sport Program Leader (South Okanagan). Ongoing feedback and support will be provided and regular staff meetings will be held to provide a formal opportunity for feedback and debriefing.
On a day-to-day basis, the Summer Camp Leader will work closely with the Summer Program Coordinator to plan and deliver all summer programs.
A performance evaluation will take place upon completion of the contract term.
